Which conversions are exact
Seconds, minutes, hours and days convert exactly, because each is a fixed multiple of the one before it with no ambiguity.
Months and years are different: a month runs anywhere from 28 to 31 days, and a year is 365 days except when it’s 366. This converter uses average lengths for those — about 30.44 days for a month, 365.25 for a year — which is the right choice for measuring a duration, and the wrong one for working out a calendar age.
