Calendar age rather than an average year
A calendar age is not the same thing as dividing the elapsed days by 365. Months contain different numbers of days and leap years add an extra day, so a useful age calculator works with the calendar itself.
This calculator counts completed years first, then completed months, then the remaining days. That produces the familiar form people normally use when they say an age such as “32 years, 4 months and 6 days”.
When the time of day matters
The calculation uses the two calendar dates you enter. It does not need a birth time for the years-months-days result, which also avoids a daylight-saving clock change turning a calendar day into a misleading 23- or 25-hour interval.
For a total measured in elapsed hours or minutes, use the Exact Age or Age in Hours tool and supply the relevant times as well.
Questions people ask
Why do two age calculators sometimes disagree?
They may use different month-end conventions, include or exclude an endpoint, or mix calendar age with elapsed-time arithmetic. Compare the method as well as the final number.
Does the exact time of day I enter matter?
For the years, months and days figure, no — only the calendar date matters there.
