Add everyone taking part, and the grid shades each hour of the day by how reasonable it is for every person at once. The best slots are the hours that fall inside ordinary working time for everybody simultaneously — and where there are none, the shading shows which compromise costs the least.
When there genuinely isn’t a good hour
Spans of more than around eight hours often have no shared working window at all, however the grid is read. At that point the honest options are to rotate who takes the inconvenient slot each time, record the meeting so one side can catch up asynchronously, or split it into two shorter calls that each cover a different pair of regions.

Ordinary working hours in each participant’s own local time — the shading is built from that, not from any single reference time zone.
What should we do if no hour works for everyone?
