What Ramadan is

The ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the month of fasting from dawn to sunset, one of the five pillars of Islam.

It lasts 29 or 30 days and ends with Eid ul Fitr. Because the lunar year is shorter than the solar one, it arrives about eleven days earlier each Gregorian year.
